Located in northwestern Rwanda, this park covers 160 km² (62 sq mi) of rainforest and is part of the Virunga Mountains. It encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the region: Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, and Sabyinyo1.
The park is famous for its mountain gorillas and offers gorilla trekking experiences. You can visit one of the 18 mountain gorilla families that have been habituated to humans.
