Best time to travel to Rwanda
The best time to visit Rwanda is during the drier period from June to September. During this Dry season, wildlife viewing is at its prime, making it an excellent time for gorilla trekking. However, if you’re interested in tracking chimpanzees, consider visiting during the rainy seasons from March to May and October to November. These periods offer the best conditions for chimp tracking


Weather & Climate in Rwanda
Rwanda’s climate is influenced by its high altitude and location near the equator. Here are some key points:
Temperature: Rwanda enjoys a tropical temperate climate due to its high altitude. The average daily temperature in the capital, Kigali, is around 21°C. Throughout the year, temperatures typically range from 16°C (60.8°F) to 27°C (80.6°F).
Rainfall: Rwanda has distinct wet and dry seasons. The long rainy season lasts from about March to May, with heavy and persistent rainfall. From June to mid-September, it’s the long dry season, making it an ideal time to visit.
Other Seasons: October to November is a shorter rainy season, followed by a short dry season from December to February. During both dry seasons, there may be light cloud cover and occasional light rain showers.
Remember that Africa’s weather patterns can be unpredictable, but Rwanda’s pleasant climate makes it a great destination for travelers!
Rwanda Entry Requirements
Have a valid passport or other internationally recognized travel document, which should be valid for six months after the date of entry.
Obtain a visa in advance from the nearest Rwandan embassy abroad or online, unless you are eligible for a visa on arrival.
Pay the visa fee of $50 (single entry) or $70 (multiple entry).
Have Travel insurance.
Provide a negative Covid-19 test result taken within 72 hours before departure.
